More Sleep
Tonight is Daylight Savings Time. People must turn their
clock back one hour.
Some complain about it. Days will certainly get shorter
now.
The air gets colder. Winter is seven weeks away.

Snow On Oct 30th
It's hard to believe
that we got 1-2 inches of snow on October 30th. I had to clean my car off with the telescopic brush that I retrieved my from
storage bin, as well as my shovel.
Nobody
knows the weather. People try to make their best decisions, based on what they hear from the infamous "weather people".

Dust Is Around Us
Dust is everywhere.
It's so hard to keep up with it.
I
just vacuumed the grill at the bottom of my refrigerator. I removed it and did additional cleaning.
It seems like I did it a year ago, but here we are again.

Not Leaving Tomorrow
It's
a Wednesday night in late October.
In normal
times, I would be getting ready to leave on Thursday for the New York City Marathon.
It's not happening this year because of the pandemic.
I always had a hard time falling asleep because of the anticipation
of going there.
Who knows how 2021 will be?

They Say Snow Friday
The weather people love to hype up bad weather, especially
storms.
There is a chance of snow on Friday. It could happen,
but maybe not.
It will be one of the big stories on the 11pm news.

You Can Ski Soon
The leaves keep falling.
It doesn't happen at the same time.
The colors are so bright. It won't last much longer.
Snow has fallen in Colorado. Other places are already
making snow to support the ski industry.

That 1953 Chevy
While I was running yesterday, I saw a 1953 Chevy on
a trailor by the side of the road.
My
father bought one of them in 1962. It was a great car until he tried to bring us to a Red Sox game.
That long journey to Boston caused oil pressure issues and numerous
stops along the local roads to add oil to get us home.
He got rid of the car after that.
Where did it end up?

Ride While Alive
There is a story in the news about funeral homes giving
seniors a free ride to the polls on election day.
That seems like a nice thing to do, but it's also a good way to try and meet potential customers.
It's a great marketing idea.

Shirts Done
My golf shirts were finally put away today. Short sleeves
are in the past.
That's how it is. I have no plans to travel to a warmer
place this year.
We will have nice days before the snow starts.

Nice October 2020 Day
The weather was perfect today for golfing. The temperature
was around 70. It brought out a lot of players.
It will be cooler this weekend with some possible rain on Monday.
Plans can get changed real fast this time of year. It will only
get colder.

Nobody At The Library
The local library must comply with state and local pandemic
guidelines in order to stay open.
When
you call, there is a long message about reserving a spot in order to browse in person.
In recent weeks, I have stopped by to pick up a book on reserve. The
was nobody there both times.
They
make it too difficult to visit and scare people away.

The Final 72
It's so amazing to see autumn unfold before us.
The beautiful colors will
end soon, although we want them to last longer.
Winter is getting here with 72 days left in 2020.

Play More Golf This Year
It was a great day playing golf with family and friends.
There are only so many nice days left in this year. It's ending real fast.
I hope we can keep playing. There is no guarantee once we get into December.

Leveling The Cost
I installed an app on my phone called "Inflation
Calculator". It's a very useful tool to compare costs in different decades. For example, $20 in 1976, would be $92.40
today.
Some of the large construction projects from decades
ago really cost a fortune in today's dollars.

Shoes Pull Apart
I bought a pair of black dress shoes in 2010 when my
brother passed away.
They felt great when I wore them to a wedding last weekend.
After I took them off, I noticed extreme separation of
the heels on both shoes.
Can this be fixed with some of the great glues out there?
Do they really work according to the commercials?
We shall see

Not My Package
It's so easy to fall
to scams. They test you every day.
I
had one recently where I was told of an issue with a FedEx package. The only problem was I had nothing on order.
I made a mistake today when I answered a call and heard the endless
nonsense on this being the last call for extended warranty for one of my prior cars.
It's a lot easier to hang up.

Thick Sunscreen
I try to wear sunscreen because of some skin issues on
my face.
There are so many products out there. I use products recommended by my dermatologist.
A new cream I'm using is very concentrated. I learned that the hard
way when I put too much on my face and couldn't wash it off.
It only needs the size of a grain of rice. Add more if needed.

Ten Weeks To Go
It seems like the middle of October which has become
the starting point of the holiday shopping season.
I noticed that yesterday at a local pharmacy. Each aisle had a miniature winter hat with a seasonal
saying on it.
With about ten weeks to go, it has begun.

Glasses Are Too Expensive
I spent $1,200 out
of my own pocket to get two pairs of eyeglasses. They are not cheap. My prescription changed and I wanted to change glasses.
It's so hard to fit them to my face and head. They are still not perfect,
but I hope they mold to me.
I've been buying glasses from the same place since 1995.
I always need them adjusted after wearing them for a week or two.

Rainless 2020
There is a drought around here. The weather people made
a big deal of it maybe raining today, but it never happened.
The ground is so dry . It needs a good soaking.
We get wind, but no rain.

Easy Roman Numerals
I always enjoy looking at Roman Numerals on older buildings
that show when they were built. You don't see them on too many new ones.
Anything built in 2020 would be real easy with MMXX. It doesn't get any easier.

Using Extra Power
Some household appliances
really use a lot of electricity. When I had an air conditioner, my monthly bill went up quite a bit.
I used a dehumidifier during the months of July and August. It was worth
the extra cost, but I was surprised how much I used.
It's back to normal now.

Louisiana. It looked really bad as a Category 2 storm.

We are headed towards winter, but want autumn to last forever.
It won't happen.

The Quiet Library
I went inside the local library today for the first time
since February to get a book I had on reserve.
They have been doing curbside service for the last few months, but can allow up to twenty patrons inside at
once.
The place was almost empty, but they had four including
me.

Blog Display
I write a blog about
football on another website.
For the last few months, they said they would be changing the layout of the page.
They had me preview it a few times, but I never like it. For some reason,
I lost control of being able to make paragraphs.
I don't want my blog to look like this.
I tried to fix this in the past and got nowhere.

I
feel so bad for New
York City right now. So much has happened during the pandemic. They are trying their best to reopen.
It was certainly a hot spot in America for the virus with so many cases.

Leaves are all around us. They will fall on the ground and create a mess in the eyes of some.
In the end,
they need to be raked and bagged.
It happens every year around here.

Disappearing Cars
California set a very ambitious goal when they decided
to eliminate all gasoline powered motor vehicles by 2035.
Fifteen years seems like a long time, but so much will happen between now and then.
Restricting drivers to alternative power sources will have a profound
economic impact on many people.
This
will never work unless the price of electric vehicles comes down.

cloves of garlic that were cut up and put in the pan.
The taste was different than other jar sauces.
I'm willing to try other ones.

2020 Was Never Easy
It's October 1st which has always been the beginning
of the federal government's fiscal year. Here we are again in 2020.
So much will happen in the next three months to the end of the calendar year.
2020 isn't going out easy
and 2021
is waiting.
